(250421) -- BURSA (TRKIYE), April 21, 2025 (Xinhua) -- A young woman studies textile technology at a vocational training center in Bursa, Trkiye, on April 17, 2025. Silk weaving in Bursa thrived from the late 14th century and reached its zenith during the Ottoman period between the 15th and 17th centuries, when its luxurious silk fabrics were highly sought after by European aristocracy. However, the industry declined in the 1860s due to pebrine, a silkworm disease caused by parasites, and subsequent wars. Today, Bursa, once a key stop on the ancient Silk Road, is revitalizing its centuries-old silk industry through widespread efforts and community-driven initiatives.
