A temporary transport arrangement has been introduced in Sofia after metro line 3 services were suspended in a key section due to construction works linked to the expansion and technical upgrading of the system. The disruption affects the stretch between Orlov Most station and Hadji Dimitar station.
According to the Sofia Municipality, the suspension will be in effect from May 11, 2026, to June 20, 2026. During this period, Orlov Most station will operate as the final stop for metro line 3.
The interruption is connected to engineering works for complex track and contact network diversions along the route of Line 3, including the section passing through Shipka Street, the Slatina residential area, and Tsarigradsko Shose Boulevard.
To compensate for the suspended metro service, a temporary bus line M3 has been launched. It will operate between Orlov Most Square and the Levski G residential district, covering the affected corridor.
In the direction toward Levski G, the route begins at stop code 1289 at Orlov Most Square and continues along Evlogi and Hristo Georgievi Boulevard, Gen. Gurko Street, Madrid Boulevard, Cherkovna Street, and Vladimir Vazov Boulevard, before reaching Poruchik Georgi Kyumyurdzhiev Street and the final stop in Levski G.
In the opposite direction toward Orlov Most, buses depart from Levski G, travel along Poruchik Georgi Kyumyurdzhiev Street, Pop Gruyo Street, and Vladimir Vazov Boulevard, before returning via the established two-way route to Orlov Most Square.
The replacement buses will serve all regular stops along the corridor, with two exceptions. The stops Aleko Konstantinov Street (codes 1821 and 1822) and Poduenska Street (codes 2117 and 2118) will not be served during the temporary operation.
The Levski G stop will function as a double stop and will also serve as the final stop for line M3, positioned slightly beyond the existing stop location.
At the same time, the temporary bus line 1TB has been discontinued.
Service frequency for the M3 metrobus is set at 10-minute intervals on weekdays and 15-minute intervals on weekends. The first departure from Orlov Most is scheduled at 5:09 a.m. daily, while the last trips will run at 11:54 p.m. on weekdays and 11:45 p.m. on weekends.
