SHANGHAI, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- La Liga held a game-watching party here on Saturday, which is the first of its kind in China since the outbreak of COVID-19.
About one thousand fans gathered at the city center of Shanghai to watch the El Clasico match in which Real Madrid beat FC Barcelona 3-1 with the decisive goal of Luka Modric pushing the atmosphere to the climax.
While FC Barcelona prepared a video with its Chinese fans cheering up for the team, Emilio Butragueno, the Institutional Relations Director of Real Madrid, sent warm greetings to their Chinese fans.
"It is our great pleasure to be here today with all our fans. Although there is the impact of the epidemic, life in China is going back step by step to its normal path, and La Liga has come back successfully through our continuous effort in establishing and implementing a safety protocol for our league, allowing all our fans to enjoy this El Clasico match," said Sergi Torrents, Managing Director of La Liga China.
Before the match, FIFA esports professionals played against each other with the FC Barcelona and the Real Madrid sides to warm up the ambiance.
